Just when you thought going green was not chic, think again. Contemporary French designer, Philippe Starck, recently released the design of one of a residential wind turbine.
Having come to the realization, at the end of his career, that most of the objects he designed were, ‘unnecessary’, and mainly was a ‘producer of materiality’.
Perhaps, this was his impetus to design an object, that would contribute to humanity on a different, more poignant scale.
The wind turbine will be able to produce between twenty to sixty percent of the power necessary to power a standard sized home – for a mere $600. The, unconventionally designed, renewable resource will be available in stainless steel, signal orange, and even transparent. Look for it, come Septmeber 2009!
